What age should we allow dating orthodox christian
Please forgive me if I am posting this topic in the wrong forum.
I was wondering if there are any good sources(such as the Holy Fathers, the Holy Bible) on dating from the Orthodox perspective.
Therefore, I think it’s safe to say that this is the defining purpose of dating: to find someone to marry.
It is because of this that I really believe that a person should begin dating only when he or she is at an age and stage in life when marriage is a realistic possibility.
would I be overly picky if I limited my dating range to only Orthodox Christian girls?
we talked about this at an Orthodox teen camp, and the priests encouraged it.
Nature of Dating Relationships: There are different ways to approach dating.
Two stand out as the most common approaches in our society.
Once you’ve found someone to marry and you get married, you no longer engage in dating. On our second date, I said, “Miri, you make everything brighter—you’re like color safe bleach”—it was a stupid comment, one of those brain-to-mouth-with-no-brake-in-between comments, but I felt good enough to say that with her. Most of the material out there is spiritual and conservative, and is meant to get people centered on the meaning of marriage and away from the secular world, but at the same time, that part has been well written and already done, so I felt like I couldn’t really add anything to it.If you find yourself dating a non-Orthodox girl, you should at least explain to her that your religion is important to you and that is something that she needs to accept about you, even if she herself never converts. You might actually succeed in converting your partner, and then they’re a crazy convert.
